In the final session of this course, Stanley Stott-Hall revisits the skills and lessons from the past 8-weeks. Students will consolidate what they’ve learnt, concluding their journey through the various crucial aspects of confident speaking.

Stanley Stott-Hall continues to explore Presentations, using this session to explore and discuss the respective benefits and downsides of both online and in-person delivery.

- What is the aim of a presentation?
- Visual: how to design a presentation, the softwares available, and using effective visual cues.
- Spoken: how to ensure what is heard and seen form a coherent message.
- Flashcards and how to use them.

Public Speaking - Session 5 (Debating II)
- Full mock debate over motion selected by students and presided over by tutor.
- Debate following conventional rebuttal structures used in debating societies.
- Constructive critique offered after conclusion of debate
- Open conversation regarding student’s key strengths and areas for improvement, and how these might be taken forward with our work on public speaking in general.

Public Speaking - Session 4 (Debating)
Debating: speaking and responding:
- What is debating, when does it happen, and why might it be important?
- Workshop involving familiarisation with technical debating frameworks and terms.
- Mini exercise related to the quick responses required of a successful debater.
- Working in teams in a debate.

- Developing further the skillset of the talented public speaker.
- The importance of physical and vocal warmups.
- Delivering a brilliant speech online in a digital age.
- Speech workshop based on what the students have prepared at home.
