Will

Hi, I’m Will and I’m currently a final year English and French undergraduate at Merton College, Oxford. At A Level, I studied English (A*), French (A*) and German (A), with 10 A*s at GCSE, as well as being heavily involved with sport, which I have carried on at university. I was also Head Boy of my school, Radley College.

I recently spent a year abroad in Paris working as an intern in a Public Relations company, and also working for a tech development start up. The opportunity to completely immerse myself in French allowed me to reach heights I never thought possible and reminded me how much fun it is to challenge yourself in another langauge.

In the last few years, I have tutored privately in German, French and English up to GCSE level, with the latter two subjects also taught at A Level standard. My background in tutoring has not been limited to the subjects within my joint-Honours degree, as I have extensive experience giving music lessons and coaching sport. I have always felt extremely passionate about teaching and cherish the individual breakthroughs that my students make, in both confidence and results!

I believe that in order to reap the benefits of one-to-one tutoring, we need to be adaptable and receptive to the student’s individual needs, and what better time to prove that than this pandemic! Modern languages, in particular, require fun and interactive lessons so that students are comfortable in expressing themselves. From grammar to vocab, I thrive on coming up with new ways to teach my students and helping them form critical thinking skills and engaging with their wider interests within the subject.
