James

Hi, I’m James. I’m currently a final year student at the University of Oxford, Exeter College, studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE). At A-level, I studied Maths (A*), History (A*), Economics (A*), and Politics (A*).

I’m passionate about my subjects, with a particular interest in economics, political practice, and modern history, and I relay this enthusiasm to my students. Tutoring is a process that I’m always excited to guide students through, tailoring it to their specific needs and requests, having had experience with tutoring younger pupils at my old school of Brighton College. Further engagement with material outside of strict academic syllabi is essential to learning, and I love to facilitate and help to grow students’ interest in topics that I myself enjoy discussing and learning about.

My tutoring style is focused on building a student’s confidence in their subject, combining engagement with the material, involving creative activities, and a focus on exam technique. I also take care to convey any revision, time management or exam tips that I have picked up over the years that might be to the student’s benefit, as I found that these can be crucial to success. My contact lines are always open to any questions or concerns that my students might have, and I give continual support throughout the tutoring process.
