Georgie

Hi, I’m Georgie. I’m currently in my final year at the University of Oxford studying Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE). I took the International Baccalaureate in Sixth Form and received 41 points overall (out of a possible 45). At Higher Level I studied Economics (7), English (6), and Chemistry (6). At Standard Level I studied Physics (7), French Ab Initio (7), and Maths (6). For TOK and EE I received 2 points in total. This is roughly equivalent to A*A*A at A-Level, if that makes it a bit clearer!

I previously tutored a number of long-term students in my home town of Brisbane, Australia before continuing here in the UK. Having taught students of all ages, with a variety of academic goals, I find that successful tutoring is as much about building confidence as it is passing on subject-specific knowledge. As well as helping with the finer details of schoolwork and exam preparation, I encourage my students to develop learning, revising, and communication skills that will assist them at university and beyond. This is supported by a range of effective study techniques that I have researched over the years, and incorporate according to learning style. Most importantly, I think that all learning should be underpinned by a genuine interest and curiosity in the subject. I aim to go ‘beyond the textbook’ by discussing broader topics of interest and subsequently linking this back to the key concepts and principles required to excel.
