Yasmin

Hi! I’m Yasmin and I am currently studying medicine at Oxford University. I obtained A levels in Maths, Biology, and Chemistry  alongside an EPQ, and have just graduated from my first degree in Medical science. For the next three years I will be on placement in hospital to prepare for life as a junior doctor! I have an abundance of experience in tutoring students of a variety of ages and nationalities in STEM A-level/GCSE subjects, university medicine admissions (both UCAT and BMAT) and English Language.

Despite the vocational nature of a medical degree, I am passionate about theory-based learning. My tutoring style can be flexible and will be tailored to your desires and goals. I believe that repetition and consolidation is of uttermost importance, as well as learning how to revise in the most efficient manner, in forming long term knowledge and understanding of your subject. I love to explore with students not just what to think about, but how to think - a skill which will stay with you for life. As a graduate of a research and theory based degree, I have experience in both unpicking the basics, which is essential for your exams and knowledge, but also in asking the questions that haven’t yet been answered. Developing your ability to understand and critique current research and theories, and expand your thinking, is beyond useful for aspiring STEM students and future researchers.

Student autonomy is the centre of all of my teaching, so lesson content, frequency and workload will be completely up to you. I am passionate and friendly, and care not just for your progress but for your well-being; I encourage students to spend free time not just with their head in the books, but enjoying their hobbies and finding an effective work-life balance. If you can’t find me in my college library or on placement, you’ll find me at the piano, running or out with friends, and I encourage you to take the time to enjoy your passions as I do. If you have any more questions about my teaching style (etc.) please do not hesitate to ask! I look forward to working with you.
