Timothy - Natural Sciences, University of Cambridge
Hi there! I’m Tim and have recently graduated with a first-class degree from Cambridge, where I read Biological natural sciences, specialising in Zoology in my third year. At university, I took full advantage of the flexibility of the Natural Sciences course, taking modules on everything from evolution, genetics, chemistry, psychology and cellular biology. A particular academic highlight was my project, in which I challenged the assumption that the human genome is comprised of a significant portion of Neanderthal genes. Prior to university, I attended a state comprehensive, where I studied Biology (A*), Chemistry (A*), Maths (A*), Physics (A), and EPQ (A*).
I now work full time as an academic support tutor in a secondary school, working primarily with GCSE-level students, but I also work closely with a number of younger and older students. I have also been tutoring privately for over 3 years now, with a particular focus on A-level Biology and chemistry, as well as Oxbridge admissions. I pride myself on making my lessons as personalised to the students as possible, sticking as closely (or as loosely) to the specification as the student feels is best for them, but always with a focus on understanding WHY things happen, not just what and how…
I’m very pleased to have received incredibly positive feedback from both students and parents alike, with almost all commenting that in addition to improving their understanding (and grades…) my supervision style has really heightened their interest and appreciation of the subject.
