Sasha Mills - English Language and Literature, University of Oxford
Hi! I’m Sasha, and I graduated from Oxford in 2022 after completing my BA in English Language and Literature. I’ve now returned to academia, and I’m currently studying for my MA in Contemporary Art Theory within Goldsmiths’ prestigious school of art in London. During my undergraduate degree I specialised in contemporary literature, writing my dissertation on the American author Ben Lerner and his curatorial approach to the novel.
I’ve been teaching since I was in sixth form, where I mentored lower school students and helped them increase their academic confidence across subjects. Throughout my undergraduate degree, I tutored students in English Language and Literature for GCSE and A Level, helping them learn essay-writing skills and instilling a genuine passion for the subject. I also worked as a volunteer admissions tutor with Zero Gravity, successfully helping my mentee gain a place to study English Language and Literature at Oxford.
As a tutor, I like to take a diagnostic approach, focused on identifying problem areas for my tutees and devising a curriculum that will help them handle any areas that they’re struggling with. I also aim to think beyond exam board requirements, introducing my students to literature that they might not yet have encountered, with a view for building a life-long appreciation for the subject.
