Molly - Law, University of Oxford

Hello! I’m Molly, and I recently graduated from the University of Oxford, Balliol College, with a degree in Law (Upper Second Class Honours). What’s perhaps unusual about my academic journey is that, prior to studying Law, I was also accepted into Oxford for English Language and Literature, giving me direct experience of the Oxbridge admissions process across two highly competitive humanities subjects. As part of this, I successfully sat both the LNAT and ELAT admissions tests and undertook multiple Oxford interviews. These experiences gave me a strong understanding of the Oxbridge admissions process, and the confidence, curiosity, and independent thinking required to succeed at the highest level of education.

Alongside Law, I have maintained a deep passion for literature, writing, history, philosophy, and the humanities more broadly. At A-Level, I studied Religious Studies, History, English Literature, and AS-Level Law, having previously achieved seven A*s and two As at GCSE - top results at my local comprehensive school in South Wales. I am also a published poet and currently working on a novel, and I particularly enjoy helping students develop confidence in essay-writing, critical analysis, argument-building, and forming their own interpretations and ideas.

Alongside my academic work, I have undertaken journalism and editorial work both in Oxford and abroad, including in Florence and Mexico, experiences which strengthened my communication skills and broadened my perspective beyond the classroom. I am also due to begin work as a paralegal, continuing my academic and professional interest in Law and advocacy.

I have experience tutoring English Literature at A-Level and English Language at GCSE, as well as successfully supporting students through the Oxbridge admissions process. Through this, I have developed a highly adaptable and student-focused teaching style. I believe the most successful tuition goes beyond memorising content, and that students perform best when they feel intellectually engaged, encouraged to think independently, and confident in their abilities. My lessons therefore aim to combine rigorous academic support with discussion, curiosity, and encouragement, helping students to develop both strong results and a lasting enjoyment of learning.

A distinctive aspect of my teaching approach is my interdisciplinary perspective. My background across both Law and Literature allows me to help students strengthen not only subject knowledge, but also the broader skills that underpin academic success: persuasive argument, analytical thinking, clear written expression, and intellectual confidence. I particularly enjoy helping students connect ideas across subjects and develop their own voice as thinkers and writers.

Outside academics, I captained the Balliol women’s football team, an experience which strengthened my leadership, communication, and mentoring skills. I understand the pressures many students face, whether preparing for important examinations, university applications, or building self-confidence academically, and I strive to create lessons that are supportive, engaging, patient, and intellectually ambitious.
