Minshu, Medicine - University of Oxford

Hi, I'm Minshu Gupta, a 5th-year medical student at Oxford University. My journey into medicine started early, influenced by my parents, who are both doctors. Being surrounded by medical conversations from a young age sparked my curiosity and led me to pursue this path. Studying at Oxford has been an incredible experience. I've immersed myself in various fields like internal medicine and surgery, and I find the human body and disease mechanisms absolutely fascinating. The combination of intense coursework and practical experience has made my time here both challenging and rewarding.

One of my biggest passions, apart from medicine, is teaching. I believe that sharing knowledge is one of the best ways to give back to the community and help shape future doctors. l've been involved in tutoring my peers, organizing study groups, and leading revision sessions. I enjoy breaking down complex concepts and making them accessible and engaging. Seeing that "aha" moment on someone's face when they finally get a tricky topic is incredibly rewarding.

I try to make learning fun and interactive, using different methods like hands-on demonstrations and problem-based learning. My students often tell me they appreciate my patience and enthusiasm, which is always nice to hear.

Tutoring has been an incredibly rewarding part of my journey, particularly in subjects I'm passionate about. I've had the pleasure of helping students prepare for their Biology and Chemistry A levels, a variety of GCSEs that I've taken myself, and school admissions tests. My approach focuses on breaking down complex concepts into manageable chunks and using real-world examples to make the material more relatable and easier to understand.

I've also guided students through the medical school admissions process, including preparation for admissions tests, writing compelling personal statements, and practicing for interviews. This comprehensive support aims to build their confidence and help them present their best selves to admissions committees.

When I'm not buried in medical textbooks or helping others study, I love exploring the beautiful landscapes around Oxford, reading medical literature, and getting involved in community service. I'm also passionate about mental health awareness and always encourage my peers to maintain a healthy balance between their studies and personal lives. As I look forward to my medical career, I'm excited about continuing to learn and grow, and, of course, to keep teaching and inspiring others.
