Maxim - Psychological and Behavioural Sciences, University of Cambridge

Hello! I’m Maxim, a recent Cambridge graduate in Psychological and Behavioural Sciences. During my time I was President of the university’s Psychology Society, and took papers across Psychology, Neuroscience, Sociology, Anthropology, Philosophy and Animal Behaviour. I specialised in the latter during my final year and produced a dissertation on cuttlefish camouflage, ideas from which were presented at a conference in Pisa at the end of 2025. Before university I achieved A*s in my A Levels (English Literature, Psychology, Chemistry) and 10 GCSEs at Grade 9.

Despite pursuing Psychology in higher education, Literature has remained one of my greatest loves, and I warmly welcome students in both Psychology and English.

I want students to enjoy their learning, regardless of what they are working towards. No two students are the same so I will always adapt to their unique interests, personality and goals. I believe in the importance of their independent thinking and encourage them to make connections across concepts, content and subjects.

Naturally, we will work together to optimise exam technique and memorise content. Beyond this I coach students in how to construct compelling and convincing essays. The essay is where students show how they form and present their ideas. Because this skill is so essential, but can often seem so daunting, I am passionate about coaching academic writing. In doing so, I aim to nurture lasting curiosity and self-confidence in each student, on top of achieving their desired academic results.

Outside of teaching I love to make and listen to music, read, and walk up hills.
