Max

Hi! I'm Max, a second year at Oriel College, Oxford, studying Theology and Religion. I was recently awarded a 1st in my Preliminary Examinations, winning the Faculty Prize for the overall top mark in the year as well as the Junior Pusey and Ellerton Prize for the best performance in Biblical Hebrew. The main focus of my degree (which I would like to continue studying at postgraduate level) is the Hebrew Bible and Jewish antiquity. In sixth form, I studied Theology (A*), English (A*), and History (A) - as well as Art History for a year.

Outside of work, I play tennis, football, and cricket. I also edit a literary periodical, and have worked on a few student films in Oxford.

I began tutoring during lockdown, and since then have worked with many different students spanning a wide range of ages and levels. I find one-to-one tutoring very rewarding, and really enjoy getting to know the students and helping them progress. I think the inherently flexible and individually focused nature of tutoring allows students to develop their own interests and progress toward their academic goals in a very different way to how they learn at school.

I am extremely passionate about all aspects of Theology and Religious Studies, and would be more than happy to work with students who want help in this area. I also have lots of experience working as a tutor for 11+ exams, and feel confident tutoring this too.
