Lexie, Experimental Psychology - University of Oxford

Hello! I’m Lexie, I recently graduated from UCL with an MSc in Clinical Neuroscience, following on from my time at the University of Oxford where I read for a BA in Experimental Psychology (upper second class). I greatly enjoyed my time at both institutions and relished the opportunity to conduct research into cognitive functions and neurological disorders alongside leading experts in the field. Before attending university, I achieved A*s at A Level in Psychology, Maths, English Literature and Theatre Studies at Wolverhampton Grammar School which I attended on a full academic scholarship, and was awarded the top prize for Psychology and Theatre Studies as a result. Prior to this I achieved top grades (A*s & 9s) across my GCSE subjects.

I am currently working towards pursuing a PhD in Clinical Neuroscience, with a focus on the cellular mechanisms on Alzheimer’s Disease. I offer private online tuition in Maths, Psychology and Theatre Studies up to A Level, with Psychology tuition including university admissions. I have worked steadily as a tutor during my undergraduate studies, and also have experience working in developmental psychology alongside children in schools across West London. As well as this, I have experience as a drama coach for KS2 and KS3 children. I have recieved positive feedback from satisfied parents throughout, and have been thrilled to help students achieve the top grades they were capable of.

I aim to make my tutorials as interactive as possible, with a particular focus on getting students to come up with solutions themselves based on my assistance, rather than just delivering the lessons and relaying concepts. I also encourage students to engage with their areas of interest outside of the curriculum, for example I have previously had students who asked for a more holistic understanding of psychology that led to us devising a syllabus that touched on complex ideas that the student would not encounter until university. I am passionate about all of the subjects I offer tuition in, and relish in the opportunity to share this with students, in the hope to foster that same curiosity and intellectual spark.
