Leo, Maths - University of Oxford
Hello! I’m Leo. I’m currently in my 4th year of studying Mathematics at St Edmund Hall, Oxford, where I have been awarded an exhibitionership for exemplary performance in my 3rd year examinations. During my time at Oxford, I have been specialising in stochastic calculus, probability, martingales and fluid mechanics. At A-Level I studied Maths (A*), Further Mathematics (A*), Physics (A*), and Chemistry (A*). And my GCSEs ranged from grade 7-9.
I have experience tutoring Mathematics for both GCSE and A-Level for many students of differing proficiencies. As a tutor I prioritise trying to rigorously comprehend my students’ way of thinking and how they instinctively approach tasks so that I am able to tailor my teaching to feel intuitive for the student. Especially for the sciences and Maths, where I believe it is much more beneficial for students to have strong intuition of the problem – as opposed to blindly ‘following steps’.
I seek to personalise my teaching to each student to ensure the most effective tuition that is both engaging and enjoyable for the student. (Despite what many people say) maths is really fun and I hope to build my students’ confidence in their mathematical ability, so that they too can enjoy the fun puzzle-game called maths!
