Izzy, Human, Social and Political Sciences (HSPS) - University of Cambridge

Hi, I'm Izzy, and I recently completed a BA in Human, Social and Political Sciences at King's College, Cambridge, specialising in Social Anthropology and graduating with First Class Honours. I was proud to be named a King's College Scholar and spent my time at university running one of Cambridge’s oldest political societies, amongst other extracurriculars. Before Cambridge, I attained three A*s at A Level in Politics, History, and Fine Art, alongside grade 9s across the board in ten GCSEs. I am now studying for an MA in Arts Psychotherapy, which continues to shape how I think about learning, communication, and supporting young people.

I’ve always had a passion for teaching, spending my summers as an undergraduate working at a prestigious Cambridge Summer School, supporting international students. Furthermore, I have spent the past year working as a SEND Learning Support Assistant, providing tailored one-to-one and small-group support to students with a wide range of additional needs, and collaborating closely with teachers and families to help students meet their individual learning targets.

I have also worked as a Student Outreach Ambassador for King's College, helping design and deliver open days and mentoring sessions for prospective applicants from underrepresented backgrounds, particularly those from the North East of England. This is work I am particularly passionate about and it gave me first-hand insight into demystifying the university application process.

As a tutor I place an emphasis on building genuine confidence and curiosity alongside academic progress. Having worked extensively with SEND students, I am used to adapting my teaching style to each individual's needs rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method. I believe strongly that students learn best when they feel truly understood, and this encourages a genuine enjoyment of the subject which in turn produces more unique and engaged arguments. Drawing on my background in social sciences I also aim to help students think critically across subjects and construct well-reasoned arguments in both essays and interviews.

I look forward to meeting any new tutees and can’t wait to get stuck in to making your learning accessible and engaging!
