Imogen - Chemistry, University of oxford

Hi, I’m Imogen - a Chemistry graduate from the University of Oxford with a strong track record of helping students achieve their potential in science and maths.

My own education began in a state comprehensive school, where I was fortunate to be taught by a handful of exceptional teachers who inspired me to aim high. Their patience, clarity and encouragement shaped not only my academic path, but also my approach to working with students today.

I have tutored learners from primary school through to A-level, supporting them in building confidence, deepening understanding and improving exam performance. I take time to break down complex topics into clear, manageable steps, and adapt my lessons to suit each student’s learning style.

Before starting my degree, I spent two years as a laboratory technician in a highly selective sixth form college. While I was responsible for preparing experiments and maintaining equipment, I also frequently led chemistry lessons and supervised practical work. This gave me valuable experience in engaging students with challenging material and helping them develop problem-solving skills.

I believe learning is most effective when it is tailored, interactive and rooted in understanding rather than rote memorisation. My aim is to help students not only succeed in their exams, but also gain the confidence and curiosity to keep exploring beyond the syllabus.
