Hi, my name is Imogen. I’m a Chemistry undergraduate at the University of Oxford.

I come from a state comprehensive school background where plenty of the students didn’t want to learn. My future was carved out by the enormous enthusiasm and persistence that a handful of teachers showed me. Their attitude inspired me, so much so that teaching is something I want to pursue as a career.

I’ve done a considerable amount of tutoring throughout my life so far. This includes teaching French to primary school children, mentoring Year 7 students, and even training air cadets how to safely use rifles!

I’m currently in my third year of university, but I’m a bit older than my cohort as I took two gap years before starting my degree. During this time, I worked in a highly selective sixth form college as a lab technician. My role went a bit beyond cleaning glassware and organising chemicals; I ended up running Chemistry lessons and practicals for the students!

My background has always been in science - I just find it fascinating. Hopefully I can pass on my enthusiasm to students, and encourage them to be the best that they can be.
