Helen

Hello, I’m Helen! I’m currently in my second year reading Classics and German at Oxford, having achieved all A*s at GCSE and A Level.

From teaching primary school children how to read to leading translation workshops with award-winning poets for A-Level students, teaching and mentoring have always been things I’ve found extremely gratifying. Languages are a particular passion of mine, and being able to share this with and spark it in other pupils is a pleasure.

Beyond passion, I know that languages more than anything require solid foundations built up over time: you can’t cram fluency! Consolidation is therefore a core part of my approach. This way pupils can move forward at their own pace, with the confidence that their grasp of the language is secure and gap-free. Where gaps might appear is of course different for everyone, but the one-on-one environment of tutoring means I can focus on consolidating the weak-spots of each pupil based on their individual needs. What this consolidation looks like can also change from pupil to pupil, and whether it takes the form of flashcards, chanting, or testing (or even all three!), flexibility is something I’m always more than happy incorporate.
