Hi, I’m Harvey, currently a DPhil student in Classics at the University of Cambridge, having completed my undergraduate degree in History at Cambridge two years ago. I’ve been a tutor privately for many years now and have over 150 hours of teaching experience. I tutor for A-Level History, Philosophy, Classical Civilisation, and Politics. These subjects were my A-Levels, in which I attained A*A*A*A and an A* in the EPQ. I have also tutored for Oxbridge preparation, beginners Latin, undergraduate History, and undergraduate Politics papers in political theory. As well as one-to-one tutoring, I have classroom experience at Runshaw College, where I completed my A-levels, having returned there during my undergraduate studies to deliver introductions to Classics, Ancient History lessons, and European History sessions.

Tutoring, for me, is at once proactive and responsive. Catering to a student’s needs isn’t just about making lesson plans and preparing material (though those things are important!), we try new ways of teaching or explaining the tougher parts of content often so we can really explore how they learn best. I believe that History gives us a crucial set of skills for understanding the world and our place in it, namely the critical thinking and analysis that is so needed in the modern world.
