Grace

Hello, I'm Grace, and I have just graduated from the University of Oxford where I studied English Language and Literature student at Merton College. I studied A-Levels in English Literature (A*), English Language (A*) and French (A*), and I've been tutoring for the last four years!

I additionally have a full year's experience helping prepare for the ELAT (English Literature Admissions Test for Oxbridge) through my student committee role as Access and Equal Opportunities Representative: I am extremely passionate about encouraging Oxbridge applications from all backgrounds. Therefore, I have spent my degree as a virtual mentor with numerous platforms, working 1-to-1 with many students to create competitive university applications. I've additionally given critical feedback on over 60 personal statements across a variety of subjects.

I have experience teaching English Language and English Literature to all age ranges, as well as French, in which I have covered Year 2s through to GCSE students striving for that A*. I consistently witness visible grade-jumping. The genuine love I hold for my studies accompanies my bubbly nature to ensure that a tutoring session is thoroughly enjoyable, consistently tailored to the individual learner. My year of experience conducting around eight weekly sessions via Zoom means I'm well-acquainted with many online learning platforms, methods, and activities. I often find splitting sessions into a triad ensures engagement - for example, beginning with an enjoyable worksheet task that engages the critical thinking, trying a repetition or 'virtual flashcard' activity in the middle, before trying some different types of recall activities. Most importantly, I hope to stimulate intellectual enthusiasm, as well as joy for the process of seeing your understanding thrive.
