Emily Howat - Engineering Science, University of Oxford

Hello! I’m Emily, and I recently completed an MEng in Engineering Science at the University of Oxford. I graduated with an Upper Second Class, Division One (69%), and was selected to work with the Aston Martin F1 Team on a high-level design project. I was also awarded the Institution of Engineering and Technology’s Future Talent Scholarship.

Before university, I achieved A*s in Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics, and an A in AS Chemistry, alongside a strong GCSE record (9× Grade 9 and 1× Grade 8).

I have been tutoring for over four years and specialise in Mathematics and Physics from GCSE to Oxbridge admissions. I have supported more than 50 students with Engineering, Physics and Mathematics applications, including preparation for the PAT and ENGAA, interview practice, and personal statements. I have also taught IGCSE and A-Level students, with many achieving Grade 9s and A*s. In addition, I have taught English in China to students aged 8–17. I have consistently received very positive feedback from students and parents, and many of my students have secured Oxford and Cambridge offers or achieved their academic targets.

My teaching is focused on helping students reach their goals by learning how to solve problems on their own. I help them identify gaps in their understanding, strengthen key topics, and feel confident approaching difficult or unfamiliar questions. I place strong emphasis on clear reasoning and understanding the steps behind each method, which is especially important for admissions tests and interviews.
