Dylan, English - University of Oxford

Hello! My name is Dylan, and I recently graduated from the University of Oxford with a First-Class degree in English Language & Literature. During my degree, I explored topics ranging from the Middle-Cornish language to the films of Jordan Peele, all while balancing my studies with filmmaking, drama, and journalism. I am unashamedly passionate about my subject and love nothing more than helping others discover the aspects of their studies that excite them.

I performed consistently well in my final examinations, but my proudest achievement remains my dissertation on folk horror and fringe identities in Arthurian literature, for which I received a mark of 77—the highest in my college cohort that year. Prior to university, I achieved three A*s at A Level in English Literature, Economics, and Geography, earning the highest marks in my year group for both English and Geography. I was also a standout student during my GCSEs.

Over the years, I’ve developed techniques and approaches to make independent revision both engaging and rewarding and know that strategizing how you revise and learn can transform results — knowledge I’ve shared with the students I’ve mentored. Since graduating, I’ve spent my time travelling around South America and living in Hong Kong, where I worked with Renewed Learning in their Asia branch.

My tutoring experience includes working with a wide range of English students, including both international and UK exam boards. I have also guided students through longer-form studies such as Extended Project Qualifications (EPQs) and coursework essays. I take a tailored, step-by-step approach, prioritizing exam technique and strategic revision to ensure students feel confident tackling any question.

My goal is to nurture enthusiasm and curiosity, equipping learners with the critical thinking skills to build original, compelling arguments. I’m always happy to discuss how I can help students achieve their goals.
