Calam, Economics and Management - University of Cambridge

Hello! I am Calam, a student at the University of Oxford reading Economics and Management. At A-Level I studied Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry, achieving A*s across the board in addition to the distinction of obtaining 100% in Maths and the highest score nationally in Chemistry. Throughout my academic career, I have performed similarly highly in my SATs, 11+ and GCSEs.

I have been tutoring in various capacities for three years, from giving chess lessons to students as young as 5 to guiding sixth form students with their STEM A-levels, and UCAS personal statements. Through this experience, I have found that an interdisciplinary approach often yields the best results: allowing students to relate ideas from different subjects not only cements their understanding, but it also allows them to realise how seemingly arbitrary rules have real world bases.

I also am a firm believer that, in order to truly learn a subject, you must understand why things work, rather than simply learning rules by rote. Something that makes sense to you is much easier to remember and apply, particularly to unfamiliar problems.

I offer support for students up to A-Level in Maths, Biology and Chemistry, and in all STEM subjects up to GCSE. I am also able to provide support with university applications. I look forward to meeting you!
