Alban, engineering Cambridge tutor (ESAT)

Alban, Engineering - University of Cambridge

Hello! I’m Alban and I’m studying Engineering at Cambridge. I’ve loved my time at university so far, and was very pleased to finish my first year to a first-class standard, placing in the top 40% of my cohort. At A level, I achieved A*s in Maths, Further Maths, and Physics.

I have been a freelance tutor for the past five years, teaching both online and in person. I specialise in Maths, Further Maths and Physics tuition for A level and GCSE, as well as Oxbridge admissions support and 11+ exam tuition. These years of tutoring experience have allowed me to support a range of students in achieving their own goals, whether that be gaining admission to their dream university or excelling beyond what they thought they could achieve at GCSE.

My teaching style is focused on developing a strong understanding and building confidence, while making lessons as engaging and enjoyable as possible. Whenever you’re stuck on a concept or frustrated by a particular topic, I know exactly how that feels – I’ve been there many times myself. I therefore aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and taking the time to properly understand a concept.

I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style and lessons to suit each individual. Every lesson is tailored to your needs, whether that means revisiting key ideas, working through challenging problems, or pushing beyond the syllabus. My goal is to help you develop the skills and confidence to achieve your goals and get the most out of your studies.

Outside of studying, I love sport, with rugby being my main passion. I also enjoy learning new things, and my love of music led me to teach myself guitar over the past year. Progress has been slow, but I’m getting a little better every week!
