Oxford University Human Scientist Alfie Dry discusses the meaning behind international borders, what they signify, how they were established, and whether they are as clearly defined as they appear on maps.
Our natural instinct is to think of international borders as immovable objects defined by law and history. Yet, many of the borders around the world are relatively new. In this seminar, Alfie takes a critical look at the concept of borders. Is it in human nature to have such clearly defined borders that signifies differences between you and the person on the other side?
