This October half-term let your child get inspired - in five 90 minute online sessions we’ll be covering everything from the quandaries of Philosophy problems, the intrigue of Economics and Business, the vital art of Public Speaking, and even a crash course in Mandarin & Arabic

Recommended for ages 12-17

Monday 24th - Friday 28th October 2022

10am - 11:40am each day (including a 10 minute break)

1. Philosophy - In puzzling over some of Philosophy’s most famous problems, from trolleys to clones, students will get a taste of this fascinating subject and the debates that spring from it (hopefully without deciding that nothing in the world is real anymore…)

2. Public Speaking Workshop - Despite being such a key life-skill, over 3/4s of the adult population are scared of speaking in public. Gaining confidence from a young age is key to overcome this, and in exploring both the art of debate and of delivering a speech, attendees will leave this workshop better placed to communicate their ideas across any field.

3. Mandarin / Arabic intro - Whilst many schools offer ‘traditional’ languages like French and Spanish, this session offers students a chance to dive into less familiar territority with these two beautiful languages . Alongside the language introduction there will be some exploration of the cultures behind them, making this the perfect taster of a potential new skill to learn.

4. Business - Run by a Renewed Learning founder, and with contributions from other young entrepreneurs, we’ll be exploring the excitements, tribulations, and unexpected occurrences of starting a new company - hopefully that entrepreneurial spark will be lit in all those in attendance

5. Politics & Economics - what’s the link between Margaret Thatcher and the 2008 economic crisis, and what exactly is a sub-prime mortgage? How does Vladimir Putin’s actions affect our gas prices, and why do North Africa care about Ukraine? This session will explore some of the most important and relevant economic and political issues of recent times, and their impact on both a global and individual level.

Each session is being delivered by an expert mentor from Oxford or Cambridge University. For those inspired to continue their exploration of these subjects, further sessions in all areas will be available for sign-up following the course.
